Message from the presidentCUWLC is one of the most successful, respected, and long-standing female sports clubs at the University of Cambridge, celebrating its 108th Varsity match against Oxford University this year. CUWLC is renowned for its skill, hard work, and impressive performances at regional and national level. The Club consists of two teams: the Blues and the Kingfishers, both of which compete in the highest BUCS leagues – Premier South 1 & 2, with the Blues regularly reaching the BUCS quarterfinals. A club highlight of 2023 was celebrating a double Varsity win, which we aim to repeat again in 2024.
We train 3-4 times a week, with sessions led by our co-captains, Alice Hawken and Sophie Duncan, and our coach Hollie Harrington, as well as support from the University Sports Centre. This season we launched a beginner’s squad to introduce more players to the sport and aim to expand this in the future. We pride ourselves on a warm, friendly and encouraging atmosphere, and many of our players forge lifelong friendships on and off the pitch. If you have any questions or are keen to get involved with the club in any way, please get in touch with me via email (cc2103@cam.ac.uk). - Celeste Crosbie, Club President 2023-24 |
